As I already said in my thread 'relaxing', I would much rather not see my school counsler again.
Well, I found out today that I might have to take several tests (for my online classes) at the school. The school district won't send me a proctor because I was dropped out last year due to illness (and yet they are still happy to send me fines for classes I haven't taken) but my new counsler (not the one I don't want to see) already said she would proctor for me, at the school, and so has ordered the tests. The problem is, she and the other counsler share the same office, and it is highly likely I will see the other one.
Another problem is that I cannot eat or drink before taking the test, which is early in the morning, one time when I always feel very sick. I probably wouldn't have my full test-taking abilities. Not even close.
However, I have not seen my best friend in over two years and she is there. Although whenever I even THINK about the school these days, I nearly get a panic attack... I don't know how I would survive this encounter.
I know this probably doesn't seem like any kind of horrible ordeal, it's not like I have to serve in the army or anything like that, but I'm still very frightened.
Does anyone know how to hire your own proctor? Or should I just go to the school and try not to die? Help, please?

I don't know a whole lot about proctors. I hope someone here can answer your questions more directly, but, I do have one thing that I hope can help that keeps me feeling safe when I'm nervous about something or someone in public. Also helps me focus away from my ADD moments which I get into sometimes... Anyhow, I like to wear a hat. Expecially when doing a test, helps me not see people around me, if I can see them it just adds to me being nervous and makes it hard to concentrate. Kind of like a blind fold on an animal I guess.

@seric
Sometimes I find that the universe has a mean streak, and when we don't want to face down our fears and avoid them, the universe comes us with a way to force us to face our fears anyway, and we often find that our fears are groundless. Sometimes to face a fear, we have to ask ourselves "What's the worst thing that could happen?" and we find that usually even the worst thing isn't that bad when looked at in the long term (how would you feel about it 5 years from now?). It reminds me of the saying "That which does not kill us makes us stronger"

@ Carn
That's funny, I was just thinking about buying a hat.
@ Tele
Yes, I've been thinking of it that way recently, and it's not SO bad, but I'm still pretty nervous. But I guess that's just natural.
