this is the second night in a row without sleep. I don't know whats going on but every time I try to sleep I only get an hour in before I wake myself up. and then I just cant get back to sleep. Please I need some help if I go one more night without sleep I'll be putting myself a risk. Thanks to sleep deprivation, while normaly I would just take something to help me sleep I don't have anything like that right now and I cant go any where to get anything.
Does any one have any tricks that'll help I'm kinda in desprate need of help.

Warm milk, a turkey sandwich and some soft classical music works like a charm on many people I know (including myself) with sleeping problems. Here's hoping you can get some decent sleep soon,

@jonn
I find that when I cannot get back to sleep that it is usually my mind is too busy. In order to calm my mind I have used a couple of tricks that seem to work. One is to visualize a pendulum swinging back and forth with about a 4 second period, and just concentrate on the swinging. The other is counting by visualizing writing the numbers in sand and then erase each number before writing the next in the sand. These give the mind something to concentrate on, but is monotonous enough to quiet the mind.

@ Jonn:
- A warm glass of milk and a peanut butter sandwich. - If you can't get to sleep within 30 minutes, you're supposed to get up and walk around and leave the bedroom and read a magazine or something similar for 30 minutes before going back into the bedroom to try and sleep. - Don't drink caffeine after noon. - If you are having some serious trouble and nothing works, it might be worth a trip to the doctor's to see if they have anything that might be able to help you get some sleep.

If you have anything that's lavender scented or chamomile (even tea) around you, that should definitely help since they act as relaxants. I've had the same issues to, and if all else fails, you should try looking up the Alpha Relaxation System CD. Kionej burned a copy of it for me and it almost always puts me out in a matter of minutes. I hope things improve for you.

I can only offer amateur solutions, but I would suggest one of two things:
Physical remedy: A warm damp washcloth across the eyes and forehead. These work wonders for me
-OR-
Psychological Remedy: Whenever you wake up, cement in your head what you believe woke you up, and concentrate on it, and attempt to drive it from your mind. This has worked with me with limited results, when we cannot sleep.
