I'm open to almost any ideas here on this subject, so please feel free to leave a reply!
Lately, I've been having some major sleeping problems. Considering my wolf nature, I'm usually more active at night, but not to the point where I'm becoming an insomniac. Whenever I get ready for bed, I'm so pent up full of energy and I just don't know how to get rid of it. I'll try meditating but the energy still persists. I'll tire my eyes out till I'm practically asleep but I literally wake up every single hour and stay awake for twenty or more minutes then fall back asleep, then repeat. It really is putting me out of everything, from school, to home activities, and even my wolf self. I'm really in need of anything from anyone right now, so please feel free to share any advice that you may have! Thank you!

A good over the counter herbal relaxant is called Valerian root. It can be used to calm you down and sedate you. Also perhaps try working out, reading or doing something else to keep your brain active while you have sleep issues. The worst think you can do is lay there and do nothing. Oh there's also a number of teas too that might help relax you, like the Valerian root (which might also come in tea form).
I do suggest, however, that you go to your doctor/call your doctor about this even if you don't think it's bad enough to be called insomnia. A lot of things can cause sleep issues, stress, different eating habits, changes in schedule (going back to school etc...).
Hope this helps.

Jamie pretty much wrapped it up right there, but also the scent of lavendar helps to relax you, so a scented candle or a plug-in scent... thing might help too. (Can't remember what they're called, lol.)

@jamie
I've never even heard of that! I think that is something I'd definitely like to try. I was never into doing any medications because it felt so unnatural to take them. This is just the thing I was looking for. Thank you!
@seric Phriam
I think I'm going to try that one first since I have a bunch of lavender lamp things (that way I don't burn my house down). Thanks for the help!

It could be you're not getting enough activity
I've got a fairly active daytime schedule, but there's days where I come home, and even after school, working on the farm, practice for martial arts or airsoft, exercise, weightlifting, whatever, I STILL have energy left over that keeps me up all night. Maybe try running some laps or doing some light weightlifting before bed?
If you're positive that's not it, then I recommend the valerien root. I have more or less chronic sleep problems, and it does help n_n

Solaria ;D One thing that springs to mind is what is on your mind at the time before sleep. Some like me, tend to have an over thinking mind that just keeps you from sleeping. And even when you sleep it continues on and on. Is this true of yourself Solaria?

@ Vik (may I call you that? XD)
The exercise before hand has definitely been a big help. I've been taking the dogs on walks and runs about an hour before bed and my sleep has definitely improved!
@artaq
Some nights my mind does seem to be racing and I can't get it to slow down ever. Especially if there's some homework I didn't finish or if I'm just having a really busy week.

Sol, I just remembered they sell some stuff at Bath and Body works that has essential oils (or something like that) for stress or sleep. I have the stress one myself, I tend to stress myself out at night with all that ample time to think to myself. It keeps me calm and puts me to sleep. Smells good, too! I would say from that, the sleep one should work too. You can get it as a bubble bath/shower gel thing (which, bubble baths do wonders of making one sleepy I think), lotion, or a pillow spray. Good luck! I hope you get this sleep thing straightened out!

@ Kio
Do you have to have a certain kind of burner or something to use it?

I stand along side you Sol when you say your having some really bad sleep problems. Everything you've explained I have too. I've lost track of how many years I've been this way though. I do like the ideas of herbal remedies and on almost any other case I would agree with Vik about the excercise before bed helping but for me this only makes me energized. I suffer from insomnia though I dont feel really energetic before bed, I just feel sleepless. After living with it for so long I've grown used to it and it no longer bothers me but I agree with everyone else. try everything you hear about and I really hope something helps

Especially if there's some homework I didn't finish or if I'm just having a really busy week. I find that a busy mind can be a cause of some sleepness nights. Sometimes I try to think of the sky and how dark it is, to try and focus on something else and then try and keep focusing on that to let my mind cool down. Another thought is to have a cool down moment before sleep also. Just do nothing for say 30 mins befor, where you do not have to use your mind or focus on anything.
