Now, before I say anything, I don't think it's related to otherkin stuff, but I don't really want to go wandering on the internet for possibly false information from people I don't trust. And it could just be nothing.
So anyway, for the past week or so, I've been having this strange feeling, like a sense of something's presence. Every now and again I'll see this dark shadow thing out of the corner of my eye, man shaped, and I'll look round and no ones there, not even something that looks like a person. It's starting to scare me a bit, like something's watching me. I also rarely get the same thing but closer to the floor, like an animal. Definitely not a spirit guide or totem though, both of these shadow things feel dangerous.
It could just be me being weird, but I've heard of a condition that sounds similar...I just don't know what to do about it.

I had something similar as a child, apparently it is a possible symptom of stress, if you're already feeling insecure, these 'shadows' you're seeing could be merely nothing more than your mind playing out a scenario it thinks possible.
As far as I may recall, it's not a disorder on it's own, it's an individual symptom that could be a few things.

@volcanothedragon
As Alkura said, it may very well be that you're simply in a heightened state of vigilance for some reason, so your mind is putting these phantom presences in your peripheral vision, in order to make sure that you're on the ball. If this is the case, however, there begs the question: Why are you in this heightened state of vigilance? Do you feel that you have a reason to be? If not, it may be sub/unconscious.
Jung would say that these things are taking on the form of a shadow for a reason. He believed that we all have a side of ourselves, a shadow self, which embodies all of the things about ourselves that we are not willing to accept or acknowledge. It may be possible that something has triggered these things to begin poking at your conscious self, hence why you are seeing them out of the corner of your eye. If may help to try meditations, in order to figure out why this may be happening. It may be time to face something about yourself that you've previously been unable/unwilling to.

@volcanothedragon As Alkura said it can be part of a stress response, and something I experience fairly often. (minor hallucinations as a stress response I mean, not shadow beings in particular. Though I hear they are fairly common.) In which case I'm afraid all I can really suggest would be to see if there's anything you can do about your stress levels (eg meditation, distractions, anything which could help you feel more relaxed) and to avoid any major changes in your life which could increase your stress. Given that it can be a symptom of many things however if possible I think that it'd be worth it for you to talk to someone about them to see if you can sort out possible causes.
(I would also... caution going off any single psychological theory on something. Most, especially older ones, have a rather large amount of weaknesses when evaluated which can be found just by googling evaluations for any such theory. That is not to say certain ideas aren't worth considering but everyone's different and different things will apply to everyone, a single theory is very far from all-encompassing.) ~Selkey

Thanks for the advice guys. Still don't really understand it though, as I haven't been stressed for quite a while. Will try meditation soon though, haven't done it for a while.

I second most of what's been said already. Sorry for the late response, Volcano. I hope you're doing alright.
Shadow people are one of the most (if not the most) reported 'supernatural' phenomena out there. And don't let your heart skip a beat at what I just said, because it's not supernatural. For seconding what everyone has already said, these type of things are usually brought on by stress or fear. They're something our head puts out there as a manifestation of said emotions. Let's get into why shadow figures are so scary, to begin with. Human beings have the knack for making their own monsters. And generally, those monsters tend to reflect the human form. Why? Because what is the most terrifying thing to you? Taking a form you deal with every day, feel safe with, interact with, and turning it into something wicked. Taking that calm feeling you get from seeing your family or friends and changing it into fear. This is why most monsters that we create in our society are some form of altered human being. So, these shadow figures are nothing more than a representation of one of our primal mind's greatest fears.
I echo the question previously presented to you, though. What do you have to be stressed about? What do you have to fear? What would be causing these symptoms? Deal with that, and more than likely the figures will go away on their own. They are nothing more than monsters you have made and they can be dealt with only by you.
And lastly, don't make one simple mistake. Don't treat them like separate entities. Do not personify them. And never try to bring them into your life. It will make it harder to get rid of them.

Parth, all that does make sense, but I haven't been stressed about anything recently. I think I will try meditation later to see if it helps, maybe it's on a subconscious level or something.

That could be quite possible. We're generally never fully aware of what's really going on in our minds on the subconscious level. I hope meditation will be able to bring about useful information for you.

@volcanothedragon I know this is a bit late, but I've had similar hallucination issues before, and it turned out that I didn't get enough sleep. I'm not sure if I can compare my thing with yours directly, but just make sure you're sleeping a sufficient amount!
