How exactly can you tell for sure whether you identify as or identify with? The wording sounds so vague and no one seems to have fleshed it out so I have a bit of confusion over the difference. You can say identifying as is being something and identifying with is relating to something but that still isn't clear

Identifying as implies that something is an integral part of you. Something unchosen. Something that makes you who you are much like your ethnicity or sexual orientation. Identifying with is to relate to something. To see a similarity to yourself, but you can separate that thing from yourself. There are to distinct and separate things...a you and an it. Hope that helps.
