I've been experiencing phantom and mental shifts over the past month, possibly longer. Normally when I experience phantom shifts of anything other than vulpine or angelic, it is Kittahara playing around and shapeshifting, and they never last more than an hour; however, these shifts are not because of her. They originate from myself, and ,like I said, have lasted for over a month. The species I've been shifting into is Velociraptor Mongoliensis, the desert dwelling killer turkey from the late Cretaceous. Due to the recent release of Jurassic World, I'm being highly cautious about calling it a new theriotype. So, as the title states: How long can a cameo-shift last, and when should I start considering it a theriotype?

Cameo shifts can last a while. It all depends on whether or not it strikes you as random or a part of your identity.

It varies really, some can last a few seconds some a whole day. If when the shift is over you feel like that cameo creature is still you then I might look into it, you might atleast be animal-hearted if said cameo has touched you in some way. If it's random you'll probably just be over the idea once the cameo is over, but it can be conufsing that I do know!
I cameo as a chimp or orangutan sometimes if I'm around them long enough, I'm hearted towards them so that's my explanation. But it has thrown me off sometimes, wondering if I'm a chimp. But at the end of the day I'm just NOT, because once it's over I can't comfortably call myself a chimp. Still a bonobo!

I don't know much about this cameo stuff, since I've only had one (kitsune). But if I were you, I would think back to when you first found out you were otherkin. How did you discover your kintypes? How long had you been feeling like that before you tried to explain it? Put those questions into consideration. The chances are it could just be to do with an obsession though. I thought I had a new kintype (fictionkin) once, but in reality I was just obsessed, and it went away after around a month. (I'm not going to say what character) Good luck with stuff!

One day I started getting fennec ears, eventually I just excepted it as a theriotype as almost every shift for months was fennec.
