You don't seem to have mention for objectkin
for all the machine, puppet, doll, computer, robot, rocks, boats, cars, knivess, lamps...android kin
and for the
"biome" "water" "space" "air" "wind" "lightning" "fire" "sand" "star" "planet"
and what have you kin.
and some to write essey on "what it is like"
even they have shifts and emotions.
what would it feel like to shift into the emotional state of a rainforest? or feel like your body is outerspace? what is the essence of being a doll, or a laptop computer with windows 2000? I can't phathom it and it takes animisim to the extrem that it loos absurd.
are most 'kin in the thinking these people are trolls, and they only do their thing in safe spaces where they know they cannot be meddled with? a lot are on tumblr.
I guess this is a case of "I had some meditation and came to the conclusion I am a spaceship"? kind of thing?

Object-kin is one of the top kintypes trolls use. Some people are serious, some are very not serious...and many make no logical sense (such as environment-kin, like tropics-kin).

Inanimate objects having obtaining, or housing, a spirit and/or soul is a part of various religions and cultures from around the world and some point or another. Such a belief is called animism. Animism is the belief that nonhuman entities (plants, nonhuman animals, etc), inanimate objects (natural and/or man-made), and/or natural phenomena have a soul. The exact dimensions and degree of what is included varies depending on religion, culture, and/or personal views. Animists often believe that all existence has some form of a soul or essence, rather than only some living beings. So there are animists that believe that inanimate objects such as brooms and mirrors can have or do have a spirit/soul. There are even geographic features such as mountains and rivers, and natural phenomena such as a strike of lightening can have a spirit/soul as well. Depending upon the belief, they may see these spirits as merely connected to these objects (in sense that these objects are merely possessed or overseen by a spirit) or these nonliving objects and phenomena themselves have a spirit/soul inherently. Of course, one thing to keep in mind is that some people use the words spirit and soul completely interchangeably to mean the same thing, while others use the words to mean different things. This is due to the large number of different religions and differing views on what a spirit and/or soul is. Also, some belief systems have their own concepts and words which are translated into English as “spirit” or “soul” which can also make things more muddled when talking about a “spirit” and what a “soul.” Tsukumogami are an example an of inanimate object having a soul is in a belief system. Tsukumogami translates into English to mean “spirit of tool” and they are one of countless kinds of entities found in Japanese folklore and Shinto mythology. So its not so strange to see machinekin who see their identity as spiritual. At least not so strange to from an animistic point-of-view necessarily.
Beyond this though, its important not to forget how a fair portion of otherkin (therians, draconics, etc) see their identity as mostly or purely psychological in nature. So there are otherkin who attribute their species identity to psychological origins so the personal opinions of different people on what does and does not have a soul/spirit does not apply here.
Machinekin/Objectkin have been around for many years. There was once a “werepontiac” (were was the term once used in place of therian today) on alt.horror.werewolves during the mid 90s, for an early example. Another example is there used to be someone who identified as a broom on another therian forum for a while a number of years ago who felt like it was sort of like a tsukumogami sort of situation.
However Machinekin/objectkin are also often used by trolls heavily. So there some are being sincere and trying to be as thoughtful about their identity as possible, some who are mistaking what they are experiencing for being ’kin, and just outright trolls.

but this would be like "reverse animism" won't it? in that "spirit that inhabits object, carries memory of said object, then is born as a human" if you go with reincarnaton.
or are some people mistaking 'kin for something else, and using the word and "yeah, I'm one of those" or "I love lightning storms, so I must be one"
"I have the soul of a diamond"
is there a way to know who is a troll, a dedicated troll, or "for real"? (without emotional torture?)
a adoptable pet site I am on, there are a few object kin, one of them being the Titanic (and a Zoid and a Dinosaur and a Harpy) one is a laptop with windows on it
but nobody is going to call them out on it. agisnt the rules.
is Pink Shovle on tumblr "a troll" or a Parody of Extremist?
and when I say "for reals" it is questionable to use term, as science has no proff of souls and such, let alone with objects and fictionkin, out side of "in another universe, when ships sink they die, in another universe, cars are alive, and when they no longer work, they die, in another universe, cartoon characters exist as their own people..."
play the multiverse card, that is how it goes.
and how does that work? even if someone applys the meaning and symbolism of "something" and just adopts it to represen them, when you have a spirtual belief of being a cat or dragon, but then "I feel like a void, glitch and teddy bear" without someone using fancy words to describe an experance?
"I'm the embodyment of nothingness in the body of a teenage girl"
it is boggling.
I wonder what it would look like to make a movie with such person. in where the world of the movie everything is a truth, in which a car was reborn as a disabled boy or something absurd, and not something like "man is reborn as dog"
it's then like, if someone says they are a pickup truck, I feel like they are obliged to carry things around for me. because they are a thing and truck. trucks don't choose to malfunction.
or are some creative kids who are reading and over thinking things, resulting in subconsious mimmicry? I guess if someone starts thinking of it, they will convince themself they are (to use a CS example "sandstorms")

but like, how does a boat or rock die? or would a spirit there in, leave and be a human, and was the rock always the identidy of a rock? and this is for the spirtual 'kin, not the "i have a psycological musing and will use a representive of my self"
and for some to have shifts.
how does one have a "rock" or "boat shift"?

Animism is merely the believe that souls exist and that both living and nonliving objects can have souls or do have souls. (The exacts depend upon the spirituality with animism.) So there is no “reverse animism.” As for how such a spirit/soul could end up away from the physical object it once was, again it depends on the belief. In some beliefs, an object with a spirit in it can be simply broken or destroyed which can set the spirit free. In other beliefs, the spirit can simply become detached from the object leaving the object without a spirit attached to it. Just to name two that I know of.
Also again, animism and reincarnation isn’t required to be otherkin as there are other kin who see their identity as psychological. So for them, the belief in how a spirit/soul could end up in a human body is moot. Otherkin isn’t about souls. Its about identification as, which can be studied and analyzed.
Whether it be a spiritual view or a psychological view however, being other kin isn’t about believing one has a soul (or not), or liking/loving something (or not). Its about identifying as something nonhuman. This identification as something is deeply a part of the personal self and is internal to them. Thus regardless of what an otherkin identifies as, they should be able to explain how and why they feel that way in some in-depth way. Liking something or identifying merely with something isn’t otherkin.
So any other kin (objectkin or otherwise) need merely be asked how they know they are such and what is there rational to start separating the wheat from the chaff. To start to notice who actually has put some thought and rational into the labels they chose, and those who are either misidentifying one experience for another, who haven’t actually put any thought into their labels, and who are just plain to see trolls.
