I'm suffering with depression lately, and I need help... Music is barely getting me through anymore. I can't tell my mum anything, she thinks I'm fine, and I'm too scared to tell my friend how I feel anymore. I'm closing into myself, and I don't like who I see.

As far as help with your depression goes, no one on this site can really give any substantial help with it, as per our rules of the forums go. I'd suggest trying to get some help in your area if you can. As much as me or any other member would like to see you not depressed, we can't just simply can't offer the help since it would break rules. I hope things get better though for you.

There's not much one can say without being a professional... and keep in mind that I am NOT a professional and am NOT liable for anything nor is this forum.
I've been able to get through mine with Vitamin B supplements (the vitamin B range is linked with energy, metabolism, and mood), exercise (helps create endorphins and elevates mood), and talking out the worst of it with my husband or close friend. IF all else fails, I go to the doctor and have them help me.
But keep in mind that everyone is different.
You need to let someone in and share the burden at the very least. Your mom thinks you're fine? Tell her you're not.. otherwise she can't help you. Depression makes you want to push everyone away, but what you really need are people around you... if only a few.
There is NOTHING wrong with being depressed, it's just a chemical imbalance that needs to be corrected~

As much as me or any other member would like to see you not depressed, we can't just simply can't offer the help since it would break rules. I hope things get better though for you. To clarify a bit, The most anyone here can offer you is advice. This is both because this is a text-based forum (physically we can do nothing, obviously) and for legal reasons, since no one on the forums is qualified to assist with them. If someone on the forums has a real, severe issue, and a member or staff suggest that you do something other than seek professional assistance, the forum and said member can be held legally accountable for "Delaying treatment".
Not saying by any stretch that we don't want to help, but the most we can do is talk. Depression isn't my area of expertise I'm afraid. I've experienced it once, years ago, but quickly kicked myself into gear and got over it. I merely came to the realization that dwelling on problems, pity, not liking myself, whatever, wasn't getting me anywhere. I told myself I had realized I was Otherkin for a reason, to better myself, to learn from my past, my problems, my mistakes, and grow, to move forward. So I did.
I know that doesn't work for everyone, but it's all the advice I can give. The world, life, is bigger than my own petty problems and insecurities, and goes on even if I stop for some reason. I'm tired of falling behind, so the only way is to keep moving forward.

What I've found helps with my own depression is regular exercise and St. John's Wort supplements. That being said, everyone is different and the same thing will not work for everyone. I would personally say to try getting into a regular exercise regimen and maybe try some vitamin/herbal supplements and see if it helps.
I am obviously not a doctor or psychologist so I can only tell you what works for me.

Thank you, Yea, I know here probably isn't the best place for this. To be honest, just knowing there's others out there who are like me (Therian and Otherkin) Is help in itself. I'm a little better now anyways, not as bad as I was before at any rate. I know it'll pass, it always does, It's just hard feeling like that to be honest. But thank you.

I don't know if I'll be able to do that, but I'll bear it in mind for the future. There's not really a way I can go see a doctor either meh. I am better than I was before though, It's something I can usually cope with, as it doesn't stay constantly. I don't know whether I can physically tell my mum, I also suffer from anxiety issues Thank you for helping as best you could though. I am aware that you are not a professional, and these are just what helps you, thank you again for sharing this with me at any rate.

Whilst due to really bad lungs I can't physically exercise, I will remember the supplement idea for future reference. Thank you for sharing this with me, I appreciate it.

Thank you for your help, Haru, I really appreciate it. I know there isn't much anyone on here can do, but your words help. I actually got a little inspiration from the last sentance... so Thank you very much.

It'll be easier to explain everything you're feeling, and maybe give her better insight. It would be easier if she came to talk to you after reading it right?

Thank you for the link, I have seen a similar one before, and could have searched it so definitely no rules breached, however I was too depressed to even think straight. That link really helped understand a little better at any rate, and I'm feeling a little better now, so hopefully I can get through this without the need of medical help. Thank you very much for helping though, I appreciate the gesture.

Asagdavel-LeeJust my piece of advice: I often feel depressed monthly as hormones sneak up on me and I get overloaded with work. Sometimes just a walk around the block helps center me, and will organize my thoughts. Eating well helps too, fresh and home cooked food without preservatives and with lots of greens. Almonds and blueberries are good too (if there's no allergies) and getting plenty of sleep. Knowing that this depression is transient helps too. However, someone I love very much has clinical depression and the very best thing for her was approaching her family and going to see her doctor. Her family provided much needed support, and began to understand where she was coming from. It was hard for her at first to approach them as well as her friends, but felt a world of relief afterwards since she didn't have to go through it alone. Her doctor was also very supportive and lead her to the treatment she very much needed. I think she looped the discussion in with a normal visit so it helped with insurance and costs. You can often also call ahead of time and discuss what costs may be expected and their approximate price. This is just food for thought, but things that have helped me and loved ones.

You have given me a little courage anyway, maybe even enough to get me out of this. Thank you

I had to state it for legal reasons, that's all How about writing her a letter saying that you're to scared to tell her face to face? It'll be easier to explain everything you're feeling, and maybe give her better insight. It would be easier if she came to talk to you after reading it right? Wow that's a great idea! Thank you so much, I never though of doing that, but I can see now that if I still lack the courage to tell my mum to her face, this is something I can do instead. You are a life saver, I swear. Thank you, you have helped me so much!
