So, as I had mentioned in my journal, I had a M-shift that was so strong it actually hurt because the urge to change into my kin was too great for me to be able to satisfy. I was told then that such shifts aren't unheard of for someone just waking up, but will subside eventually. I'm concerned that I may experience such a shift again at some point, so I'm wondering if there is something I can do about it. Specifically, I'm wondering if there is something I can do during such a shift so that I might be able to deal with the pain better. Any advise? Here is the link to my journal if reading the event in more detail will help decide what I need. It would be the third reply. therian-wilderness.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=personaljournal&action=display&thread=3568

@ Avenz All I can say is, try to meditate more, get time to yourself outside when you can express yourself, draw your kin, write a story about your shifts/kin, keep a journal about it, and if you need to try to think about the ways that you are human when it happens, it can make those shifts a little 'less'. If you have time to yourself to express it, when it happens, run around on all fours, pounce, growl, purr, do whatever you feel you should. You'll feel better. But meditation definitely helps, if you need help with that we have a great thread on meditation: therian-wilderness.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=teachingsguidings&action=display&thread=1576&page=1Hope this helps.
